The DC Co-Founder and Rally Team Driver Ken Block has made the TRAX STI, the world's fastest cat track.
"The TRAX STI is an experimental automobile that starts with Block's competition-ready Subaru WRX STI before ditching the tires, adding snow cat tracks, and upgrading to some next-level suspension to create the ultimate backcountry shred car. Prepared by Vermont SportsCar, performance modifications include 400-hp and features Group N competition rally dampers made by EXE-TC and a KAPS 5-speed close-ratio dog-engagement gearbox. Under the hood sits a 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged and intercooled STI engine tuned with a MOTEC M800 ECU. "

The Urban Cursor
Gear | Projects
The Urban Cursor was an project that was placed on a square in Figueres, Catalunya, Spain in September during the cultural festival Ingravid, it is basically an oversized cursor that could touch it, move it around and sit on, and it had a built-in GPS tracker which transmitted its location to Google Maps. The project by Danish designer Sebastian Campion.
"Despite being removed from its normal screen based environment, the cursor was still in touch with the digital world. Via an embedded GPS device, the cursor transmitted its geographic coordinates to a website. At the website, the coordinates were mapped in Google Maps thereby documenting the cursor's movements in the physical world and making it possible for participants to see how they collectively helped move the object around. During the festival participants could also upload photos of the cursor at the website. The photos were automatically placed on the map by matching the photos' digital time stamp with the GPS coordinates. "

By Ben on Mon Nov 2 2009 | Comments ( 3 )
Gear | Tech
CyberWalk has developed an omni-directional treadmill, which allows humans to walk in any direction yet stay centered on the treadmill. The user should be able to walk seemingly endlessly in any direction without leaving a small room.  Underneath the walking surface is many densely packed small balls which let the friction of the user’s shoes do the moving. This technology is potentially going to be used for virtual reality gaming, therapy and training. Used in conjunction with screens, it can give the user the fully immersed feeling of being in a virtual world. Watch the video!

The Cool Pac Man Pumpkins by Dave Adams.
"These are carved from Sugar-pie pumpkins and mounted on black dowels on a black board. The "pellets" are small gourds turned on their sides. The cherries are crab-apples and I used some 18 guage wire for the cherry stem. The pumpkins were air-brushed with florescent paints to make them glow under black light and give that video game raster glow feel to the whole thing. "
