Fugu Luggage

Fugu Luggage

Fugu Luggage
Home | Outdoor
“Fugu” is actually Japanese for “pufferfish,” which makes sense because the luggage behaves like the pufferfish in terms of how you can adjust and expand it when you need the extra space. Fugu is made from durable materials, with its inflatable drop stitch walls making it possible for the bag to go from carry-on size to the maximum regulation-sized baggage for check-in. It also features Omni wheels and comes with built-in shelves, so it doubles as a storage unit, too. The Fugu can also be used as a laptop stand and makeshift make-up dresser.
Fugu is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $219 will get you one of your very own.

Shell 'art' made 300,000 years before humans evolved

Shell art made 300 000 years before humans
Gear | News
THE artist – if she or he can be called that – was right-handed and used a shark's tooth. They had a remarkably steady hand and a strong arm. Half a million years ago, on the banks of a calm river in central Java, they scored a deep zigzag into a clam shell.
We will never know what was going on inside its maker's head, but the tidy, purposeful line (pictured above right) has opened a new window into the origins of our modern creative mind.
It was found etched into the shell of a fossilised freshwater clam, and is around half a million years old – making the line by far the oldest engraving ever found. The date also means it was made two to three hundred thousand years before our own species evolved, by a more ancient hominin, Homo erectus.
Big Pic.

Illustrated Tree of Languages

"Language trees for the language lovers! I've gathered pretty much all the data for this from ethnologue.com, which is an awesome well of information about language families. And if anyone finds some important language missing let me know! (Naturally most tiny languages didn't make it on the graph, aww. There's literally hundreds of them in the Indo-European family alone and I could only fit so many on this page, so most sub-1 mil. speaker languages that don't have official status somewhere got the cut.)"
