    Solar Clock
    Home  |  Clock
The Solar Clock(GBP 25; about $39) from Suck UK. A great idea, it will save your money to buy the batteries and green. Its internal battery charged by sun and comes with two sets of hands. Designed by Adrian Allen.
"Supplied with two sets of hands (long & short) to give you the options of wall mounted or free standing. With a smart and simple solar panel on its front it's a far cry from the days of those dodgy calculators you had to crouch under a bright light to use. But as well as being functional this little clock has a clean and unfussy design that lets you stand it up whichever way you want."

    Bridging Architecture
    Home  |  Building
US based Steven Holl Architects has just won the international design competition "The LM Project". With a program that connects office towers and civic spaces with a public walkway 65 meters above the harbor, the new design is intended to form an iconic landmark for Copenhagen's waterfront. The amazing bridge, I love this design! The Marmormolen tower connects back to the City with a main terrace that thrusts out towards the city horizon shaped by a public auditorium below. It can also be reached by escalators and is adjacent to the public bridge elevator lobby. Each tower carries its own cable-stay bridge that is a public passageway between the two piers. Due to the site geometry, these bridges meet at an angle, joining like a handshake over the harbor.

    Philips goLITE BLU
    Home  |  Appliance
With the end of Daylight Saving time many Americans are affected by the increased darkness and experience what is known as the winter blues. The Philips goLITE BLU($280) is a new therapy light improved mood, energy, sleep and a sense of relief from the winter blues, and also with a built-in clock and timer.
"Light therapy is a natural way of beating the winter blues without the use of drugs or artificial stimulants. Results can be felt within a few days with as little 15 to 20 minutes of use per day. "The goLITE BLU represents significant improvements in portable blue light therapy," says Adams. "Science has shown that to stimulate the body clock we don't need intense white light. This is because a person's body clock can respond up to two times greater to blue light than to white light and white light is 50 times more intense. Our Bluewave technology, which is incorporated into the goLITE BLU, dramatically reduces the overall intensity of light as compared to bright white therapy devices and can help minimize potential side effects such as eyestrain, glare and headaches." Good Night Eileen
    Home  |  Lighting
Good Night Eileen by Christine Birkhoven. A pretty night light!
"The concept for the lamp is based on the archaic hand-lamp, which was used for illumination moving from one room to another at home in the dark.
The idea behind it is to give the user a clear message through the product. The form language is unmistakable; the lamp can be taken anywhere in the house e.g. at night to the kitchen or toilet. The lamp does not need to be switched on anywhere, because good night eileen recharges on its base and continues to shine as soon as it leaves the base for a view minutes before slowly fading."

    Rain Drops by Evan Gant
    Home  |  Design
The Rain Drops by Evan Gant. Rain Drops designed for collecting Rain water from the roof. You just modify the existing gutter system. The rain water will store in many standard plastic bottles, you can use it water your garden or washing your hands! I love this idea!
"The RainDrops system simply allows people to adapt standard plastic bottles to an existing gutter system to collect rain water. This changes water storage from the most to the least expensive part of the system. These are much easier to clean and replace than larger storage units. The repurposing of these plastic bottles will also give value to many bottles that are otherwise headed for landfills. Corruption in the water sector is a real problem in many developing countries. The scalability of this system helps to give more power to the communities in need.
Another large benefit to using plastic bottles as a water collection system is that it fits in nicely with the process called SODIS, which uses a combination of the suns UV rays and heat to remove pathogenic microorganisms that cause disease. This process is spreading across many developing countries due to its effectiveness and low cost.
