    Nine-year-old Sabre Norris from New South Wales, Australia just landed her first 540 on vert. Here's the story in her own words:
     "My skating all started because I wasn't allowed to get a bike because we don't have a garage. So my mum bought us skateboards instead. I started from rolling down my dad's business car park. I've been skating for about 3 years. My favorite trick is a 540. I watched Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins do it on the internet, and I just had to do it. That was my 75th attempt of the day. Every time I tried one and didn't land it I put a rock on the table. It ended up being my 75th rock. I was frothing. I did some 720s too. Not proper. I called it 540 to revert to splat. I didn't cry though. My goal is to do 100 of them before this Saturday. I'm up to 75. I still can't ride a bike, but I can do a 540."

    Satsuki Ohata's Fondue Slipper uses higher-temp, harder-wearing PVC to produce extremely custom-fit slippers. Cool idea! Right now, they're a work of art;
    "*This prototype is using PVC, which hardens at 200~300 degrees Celsius (392~572 degrees Fahrenheit). This time I used my foot mold instead of my foot. I am currently developing a kit which allows Fondue Slipper to make at home. Soon this new kit will be complete and you will be able to make your own Fondue Slipper that fits your foot perfectly. You can wear Fondue Slipper both inside and outside. It can also be used as slipper by folding the heel, or you can wear it without folding the heel if you want to run."

    Former neighbor's daughter gets a surprise Lamborghini Aventador ride from her high school followed by a visit to Times Square. The reactions were priceless. Allen Wong writes
    "I've had this neighbor for many years when I was poor and living in a poorer neighborhood. I became successful and moved to Florida a few years ago. I then came back to my hometown for a visit, and I brought my Lamborghini with me. I saw an opportunity to make the kid's day much brighter, and I took it."
    Leon on Wheels
    Gear  |  Video

    At just over three weeks of age, little Leon Trotsky has more spunk than most who are ten times his size and he has already beaten the odds not once but twice. Being born a ‘farm’ pig, Leon was destined for the plate, but then an accident caused by his injured mum (which claimed the life of two of his siblings) saw Leon up against it again. With his right hind femur both broken and dislocated, plus an injured hock and ligament damage on the other side, things could not have looked much grimmer for the wee chap. But no one told the plucky little Leon that these obstacles of his world should hold him back. His life was precious, and thankfully this was recognised by a kind hearted soul who sought a better outcome for Leon.
    Apple Unveils iOS 8
    Gear  |  News
    Apple today unveiled iOS 8, the new version of the mobile software, iOS 8, boasts a new way for users to interact with notifications — text messages, calendar updates or Facebook posts — without launching individual apps. A new e-mail feature allows users to set aside the message they're writing with a downward swipe to retrieve information from another document. The new iCloud Drive feature syncs all Mac folders across every Mac, iPhone or Windows PC that a user owns. That feature is like cloud storage service Dropbox. And a new "handoff" feature allows Mac users to place and receive calls and texts via their Mac, even to non-iPhone users. Apple also unveiled HomeKit, a new platform that would enable people to control all the items in their homes with the iPad or iPhone. That means iOS 8 will let people manage their lights, cameras, door locks, switches, plugs, thermostats and other connected devices.
