Émile Cohl created Fantasmagorie in 1908. To make this film, Cohl placed each drawing on an illuminated glass plate and then traced the next drawing-with variations-on top of it until he had some 700 drawings. In 1908, chalkboard caricaturists were common vaudeville attractions and the characters in the film look as though they've been drawn on a chalkboard, but it's an illusion. By filming black lines on paper and then printing in negative Cohl makes his animations appear to be chalk drawings.
From the website:
"It's the best covert audio recorder you'll find anywhere, thanks to its small size and dual functionality.
You'll be able to record and store over a hundred hours of audio all on one simple flash drive.
It's the perfect note-taking companion, especially for laptop users.
Simply turn on audio recording and type your notes, knowing you have a safety net in case you miss anything.
Of course, if your recording is of a more sensitive nature, you have the peace of mind of knowing that the other person will never realize they are being recorded on your USB voice recorder.
And, don't forget — this is also a fully functional USB flash drive, too."
"The teacup has an unusual angled bottom that allows it to rest in two different positions. On one side is a screened compartment in which you place your favorite loose tea leaves. Pour hot water through the screen and allow it to steep. Once it's done, simply tip the cup in the other direction, lifting the leaves up out of the water. The cup's large size is perfect for cradling between your hands as you enjoy the warmth of your drink. Screen is removable for simple clean-up. "
"This is the soft-riding sled suggestive of riding down a snow-covered slope on a tube-shaped bean bag. Significantly reducing the effect of bumps on the lower back, the sled's interior has an inflatable air bladder (requires hand pump) surrounded by thousands of 2mm polystyrene spheres-the same filling used in bean bags for lounging. Designed in Italy's Abruzzo region, its top and sides are made from double-stitched PVC-coated 100% polyester..."
"This is a single-pipe alpine coaster in Mieders, Austria. You reach the summit via a cablecar and then sit on a small car with a brake lever and off you go. Having ridden it once using a little braking, I decided to try it a second time without using the brakes. This is SCARY! Enjoy the ride!"
