"After years of investigation, a group of European scientists had discovered that the vulgarly called ‘arseholes’ are actually suffering a genetic mutation that conditions their behaviour. This discovering had opened a door to end with the unfair stigmatization of this group of patients. Understanding how the disease works is the first step to the cure, but there’s a lot of work to do before that moment arrives, including informing the citizenship about its existence. Because arseholes… are just sick people."

At the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan a Proton-M rocket with DM-03 upper stage, carrying three Russian Glonass-M navigation satellites(fortunately unmanned) went out of control, exploded and crashed at 8:38 AM local time, July 2 2013.
The rocket propellant used is the hypergolic oxidizer dinitrogen tetroxide with the toxic and carcinogenic fuel unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine, which leads to the brown smoke, massive fireball, and inevitable environmental contamination during the crash.

Apple iOS 7 Has Already Been Jailbroken
    Gear  |  News
Apple iOS 7 is currently available as a beta for developers, Apple will release the final version of iOS 7 in the fall. The new iOS 7 will be announced in September at the same time as the new iPhone 5S. It looks like Apple iOS 7 has already been jailbroken by developer Ryan Petrich who posted a photo online from a jailbroken iPod Touch running Apple iOS 7 Beta on Twitter last night.
He didn’t say too much about it. In fact, he didn’t acknowledge the jailbreak at all. He simply wrote “System version too new?” in reference to an error he received when attempting to run Activator.

As most of our principle shooting was on the ground. While in transit from Queenstown to different parts of the the south island, we shot these images on our journey between locations. The southern parts of NEW ZEALAND are amazing

    Handibot A Portable CNC Machine
    Gear  |  Projects

Developed by ShopBot Tools, the HandiBot is a portable CNC machine. Use it to cut, machine, drill and carve using a mobile app, tablet or PC. You want to cut holes, and nothing else? You can have a simple app where you just have to enter a diameter or radius, and press “Cut”. You want to make complex 3D carvings? No problem, you can have another application with intuitive 3D CAD software to help you draw whatever it is you’re after. At the moment, there’s a Kicstarter campaign where a $2,400 pledge will get you one if you’re willing to wait until the second batch, or $2,700 if you’re in a hurry. Delivery starts in September.

    3D Printed Cast
    Gear  |  Projects
Called the Cortex, the 3D printed cast pictured above is a concept and prototype designed by a Victoria University of Wellington graduate with the suspiciously awesome name Jake Evill, the Cortex cast is lightweight, ventilated, washable and thin. Made from a complex honeycomb structure, it allows for air and water to circulate, as well as making it possible to scratch and clean your skin. Sounds wonderful. Made out of polyamide, the casts take about 3 hours to make, while regular plaster casts take 3 to 9 minutes. With advances in 3D printing technology however, we may see the Cortex in hospitals within the next few years.

Surveillance Cameras Wear Party Hats for George Orwell s Birthday
    Gear  |  Projects
To celebrate the 110th birthday of George Orwell, surveillance cameras in the center of the city of Utrecht were decorated with colorful party hats. By Dutch art group FRONT404.
"George Orwell is best known for his book ‘1984’, in which he describes a dystopian future society where the populace is constantly watched by the surveillance state of Big Brother. By putting these happy party hats on the surveillance cameras we don’t just celebrate Orwell’s birthday. By making these inconspicuous cameras that we ignore in our daily lives catch the eye again we also create awareness of how many cameras really watch us nowadays, and that the surveillance state described by Orwell is getting closer and closer to reality."

Dress Moves and Glows When Someone s Looking
    Gear  |  Design

Fashion designer Ying Gao brought in robotics designer Simon Laroche to help create (No)where (Now)here, two dresses that activate when someone looks at them. The dresses are equipped with eye-tracking sensors. When the dress detects a person's gaze, it moves and lights up in the dark. The undulating dresses are mesmerizing to look at. The fabric moves like gentle waves, making them look alive, like some strange ocean denizens. The interactive dresses' movements come from tiny motors. The lighting effect is generated by photoluminescent thread.
Ying Gao’s statement reads: “A photograph is said to be ‘spoiled’ by blinking eyes — here however, the concept of presence and of disappearance are questioned, as the experience of chiaroscuro (clarity/obscurity) is achieved through an unfixed gaze.”

Doctor Who Fans Fund Campaign to Send TARDIS to
    Gear  |  Projects

2013 is the 50th anniversary of DOCTOR WHO. A group of Doctor Who fans have put together a successful Kickstarter project to send a TARDIS-shaped satellite into Earth’s orbit. Good idea! The TARDIS satellite has already been built and will be equipped with a GoPro Hero 3 so that it can capture the view from above the world. The Kickstarter campaign has about one more day to go, but it has already surpassed its funding goal of $33,000. The launch is being planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, which is on November 23, 2013.
"The TARDIS is built. That's right. We've completed the satellite. The satellite is constructed from really light weight aluminum (because weight is a huge issue) and it is a scaled-down version of the actual TARDIS. Our satellite is only about 1 foot tall - because again, weight is a major factor. However, the light on top functions (powered by solar cells in the windows.) And that means that when we put this thing in space, there will be a TARDIS with a blinking light orbiting the Earth. SWEET!
But then we thought, what if we put some other stuff inside? So, we did. There is a camera, a GoPro Hero 3, regularly recharged by the solar panels, which will take photos of the Earth from orbit. It's not the Hubble or a spy telescope, but it should give us some pretty sweet pics. A magnetic, passive attitude control system is in place which will keep the TARDIS's camera pointing toward the planet
