"It was never a reaction to wearable tech: I was just always missing calls and texts because my phone was in my purse, and my family was getting frustrated with me [to the point that] it became a running joke. And I was looking at my hands, and I thought, “You know, I wear some big rings. I wonder if I can make a technology that would fit into the things I wear every day that would help solve this problem and be useful?” And so that’s where the idea came from. It was always about wanting to make beautiful things. It was never, ‘How can we make technology beautiful?’ I wanted to make beautiful things and put technology into them. And I think that’s very different from the way a lot of technology companies work, because they start with the technology first and then design around it. We’re using a very different approach by starting with the style and design."

We started from Ushuaia in Argentina and went to Port Williams in Chile, rounded Cape Horn and crossed the Drake Passage towards the Melchior Islands in Antarctica. We spent 16 days in the Antarctic and got to experience the most amazing scenery and wildlife before we returned back to Ushuaia."

With all of Russell’s characters, we often witness a turbulent assortment of emotions, ranging from one end of the spectrum to the other–we see greed and sympathy, violence and tenderness, neurosis and confidence. These characters are clearly not simple, but ironically enough, they usually have one simple desire. And while these characters may seem to be unlikeable on paper, in spite of their tedious and often aggravating complexities, we cannot help but care for them.

Creepy Selfie Arm by artists Aric Snee and Justin
    Gear  |  Design
Artists Aric Snee and Justin Crowe has created this Creepy 'Selfie Arm', this arm looks from zombie.
"fascinated by the idea of technology and its illusionary ‘connectedness’ and ‘sociableness’, snee and crowe created the ‘selfie arm’. the sarcastic solution to a quintessential problem — nobody wants to look alone while they mindlessly snap pictures of themselves — the product conveniently provides you a welcoming arm. and better yet, it doesn’t talk or have emotions of any sort. you can even create fake accounts and use its finger to like all your images; its not you its the hand! ‘selfie arm’ is made of fiberglass, is lightweight and portable, and fortunately only a prototype. the collaborative project is a direct commentary on the growing selfie stick phenomenon, and the constant, gnawing need for narcissistic internet validation. The Chemistry of Gin And Tonic
    Gear  |  Pic
The Chemistry of Gin (And Tonic) by Compound Chemistry.
"Before compounds from the botanical ingredients are extracted into the gin, the spirit is essentially flavourless. The flavour that’s imparted depends on the exact ingredients added, the specifics of which, for most gin makers, are a closely guarded secret. However, in the EU at least, the dominant flavour must be that of juniper berries. These contribute a wide range of terpene compounds to the gin: alpha-pinene, beta-myrcene, limonene, gamma-terpinene, p-cymene, sabinene, and beta-pinene. Some of these are also contributed by other additions; for example, limonene is extracted from dried citrus fruit peels that may also be added during the redistillation process. Generally, they tend to confer woody and herbaceous tones to the flavour of the gin. Oxygenated terpenes also play a part, and these too come from juniper berries."
