Ever dreamed of owning your own flying car… from the 1950s? Greg Herrick, an aircraft collector in Minneapolis, is selling his 1954 Taylor Aerocar N-101D with an asking price of $1.25 million. His flying car of the retro-future sports a yellow and black body, still works! The Aerocar designed by Moulton Taylor in 1949, and only five were ever produced.
Some of the specs from his list:
"The AEROCAR features side-by-side seating for two. Advanced for its time, most of the fuselage skin is of composite material and the car is front wheel drive. In flight the wings are high and unobtrusive. Powered by a Lycoming O-320 Engine the propeller is mounted at the end of a long tail cone, the latter angled up for propeller clearance. Cruise speed is about 100 mph. Takeoff speed in 55 mph and the airplane is controlled by the same steering wheel as is used for driving."

BMW has officially unveils its third concept with the i8 Spyder that builds upon the i8 coupe that debuted last year. The Spyder's body is still made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic and it still has an electric motor for controlling the front wheels and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine for the rear wheels.
"96 kW/131 hp on the front, coupled with a 164 kW/223 hp gasoline engine on the back, which accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
As far as fuel consumption goes, BMW claims 3 liters per 100 km (62 miles), with 30 kilometres (19 miles) of autonomy on electric power alone
."
Powering the concept will be a plug-in hybrid system that uses a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder at the back and electric motor at the front. Combined output for the concept is supposed to be 349 horsepower. The i8 is also a plug-in hybrid that can travel 20 miles on electric power alone and take two hours to charge. The BMW i8 Spyder Concept is scheduled to be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show.
