The Sound/Chair by Matthew Plummer-Fernandez. Sound/Chair begins as a sound that is precisely crafted to form the shape of a chair when visualized as a 3-dimensional object using a volume, time, frequency plot. The chair is an exact replica of the soundwave graph. The result is a product with dual existence as both a sound and chair, and a new approach to designing products. This product was launched at the London Design Festival in September and will be on Sale at Selfridges September 2008 at £3950(about $7,900).
fact 1: I made 719 sounds to finally reach the one I produced as a chair.
fact 2: I do my own programming to graph the sounds.
fact 3: There is a lot of mathematics involved in the process as the frequency domain has to extracted from the data and plotted against time and volume.

A $7,000 lounge that you can enjoy the feeling of floating in a lake in your lounge? I just want to know who will buy it for what reasons?
"This chair's rocking motion simulates the feeling of floating in a lake, gently undulating and pitching across three axes to relieve your stress and encourage optimal relaxation. The lounge methodically rocks you side to side and back and forth. Its reclined design places your feet above your heart--a supine posture identified by NASA as being the least stressful for astronauts--to relieve back strain and facilitate oxygen and blood flow." I love this Box Chair, designed by Eiry Rock. This piece offers seating for both adult and child, whilst also acting as a seat and play surface for a child. This product is a blatant expression of how one form is removed from another leaving a negative space in its absence. Eiry Rock's designs will display at the London Design Festival 2008 from 13 to 23 September 2008.

The Matrix Unplugged Chair($35,000) by Artist/machinist Zoran Milivojevic. Made from the torpedo lifting jaws of a nuclear submarine, this complicated piece of engineering and design, for the rich guy and crazy folks. The best part is that it's the original unit from a never-used prototype, so you won't find any more of these anywhere. Motorized hydraulics adjust the chair position and there are lots of little tech adjusters to make it perfect for you. If you don't like the orange, you can also custom differents color or leather padding.

The Moooi($1,139) designed by blasius osko and oliver deichman for moooi, the clip chair has a solid beech frame and folds flat. according to the designers: "Whilst strolling around a Bulgarian market, a small, foldable basket caught our attention. Single slats were beaded on ropes to form 2 hinged surfaces, which could be transformed into a curved 3 dimensional object. We improved this stunning mechanism, both technically and visually, to create a foldable lounge chair - the 'Clip Chair'. When open, it's straight identical slats form a spacious seating space of supreme comfort. This simple design not only makes the chair highly practical, but also creates a sculptural object of outstanding aesthetic value, whether folded or open." I love this design, but don't like its price.
