Bridging Architecture US based Steven Holl Architects has just won the international design competition "The LM Project". With a program that connects office towers and civic spaces with a public walkway 65 meters above the harbor, the new design is intended to form an iconic landmark for Copenhagen's waterfront. The amazing bridge, I love this design! The Marmormolen tower connects back to the City with a main terrace that thrusts out towards the city horizon shaped by a public auditorium below. It can also be reached by escalators and is adjacent to the public bridge elevator lobby. Each tower carries its own cable-stay bridge that is a public passageway between the two piers. Due to the site geometry, these bridges meet at an angle, joining like a handshake over the harbor. + More >> Share it

Anara Tower - A 700m High Green Structure Ranked Among the World's Tallest Structures Anara Tower will be a 125-story mega skyscraper in the Dubai. At about 700 meters tall, will rank among the world's tallest structures. It designed by a British firm Atkins. And it will conform to LEED certification requirements of at least silver rating, maximising water and energy efficiency and potentially including renewable sources of energy. Apart from sky gardens after every 27 floors, the building will have offices, shops, a luxury hotel with 250 rooms, 300 residential apartments, and a place for exhibitions and auctions. The apartments, which are expected to be the most expensive in Dubai, will have luxuries like exclusive swimming pools, exclusive elevators and views of the beautiful coastline of Dubai. Paris Pyramid, by Herzog & de Meuron Paris council has unveiled plans for a 50-storey glass pyramid after voting to drop a ban on high-rise buildings. Proposals for the Projet Triangle, designed by Swiss architecture practice Herzog & de Meuron who designed the Olympic stadium in Beijing. The tower will have offices, a conference center, 400-bedroom hotel and restaurants and cafes. It will be surrounded by parks, gardens and shops. The building is planned to be around 590 feet high which will make the third highest building in Paris. The tower will run on solar and wind power and is set for completion in 2012. Casa Tolo By Alvaro Leite Siza Vieira The Casa Tolo by portuguese architect Alvaro Leite Siza Vieira. This building located on a steep hill in northern portugual. "instead of fighting the natural environment, the architect embraced it using the slope as the home's main characteristic. the home begins at the top of the hill and slowly reveals itself as you descend down the outdoor staircase. the home was designed as a vacation home for the architect's cousin, wife and children. despite the familiar connection the home was built on a tight budget of 150,000 usd. the various rooms are divided among the levels, each one even has its own patio space. despite the frontal exposure to the hot sun, the residence is cooled by the earth which surrounds it on three sides." Styrofoam Dome House - Mushroom House? These mushroom shape houses by Japan Dome House company. Its unique shape and material(polystyrene) that enable energy savings(green) and many benefits. The Dome House is an igloo-shaped structure built from snap-together wall sections made of 100% expanded polystyrene foam. Use the styrofoam?! Unlike wood and metal structures, it is also highly resistant to earthquakes and typhoons and the walls with the flame retardant features it will no toxic fumes in a fire. The best part is can be built in quick and easy. The prefabricated pieces, which each weigh about 80 kilograms (175 lbs), can be carried by 2 or 3 people and assembled in a few hours. Once the shell is put together, coats of mortar and paint are applied for further protection from the elements(watch the video, check out more). Clingstone Clingstone, an unusual, 103-year-old mansion in Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay. The house was abandoned in the 1940's until it was bought by Henry Wood in 1961 for $3,600. Clingstone had been built by a distant cousin, J.S. Lovering Wharton. Mr. Wharton worked with an artist, William Trost Richards, to create a house of picture windows with 23 rooms on three stories radiating off a vast central hall.Check out see more house's pics + More >> Share it

CASA de RETIRO ESPIRITUAL - a Book House CASA de RETIRO ESPIRITUAL was designed by Emilio Ambasz in 1975. It localed at approximately 25 miles (40Km) north of Seville, Spain. The house is surrounded by the splendors of the Spanish countryside , perched on a low peak in the lush, green Sierra Morena mountains overlooking a man-made lake and a vast 1,000 Has estate where olive trees, evergreen oaks, and wild flowers grow and fighting bulls, horses and wild boar roam. Its rural setting provides a dramatic contrast to its stark ascetic look. "The design that first brought Emilio Ambasz to international attention as an architect is one of the most compelling architectural images of our time. Unforgettably, two tall white walls rise like sails from a green sea of grass. A steep cantilevered staircase climbs each of the walls to meet at the right-angled juncture of the two white sheets. This dual mirror like image soars mysteriously above a square sunken courtyard. Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling An exhibition called Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling is holding in the Museum of Modern Art. This exhibition has invited five architects to each build a house on a vacant New York. One of houses by Massachusetts Institute of Technology associate professor Larry Sass. This project was called Instant House and attempted to "harness the speed and precision of laser cutters to fabricate simple shelters quickly and inexpensively". The design features grooves and notches so that the laser cut plywood panels can interlock without any traditional fasteners. The first prototype was assembled by five students who were equipped with only rubber mallets. Amazingly they were able to fully assemble the entire house in just two days. It's estimated that in large scale production the houses would only cost about $40 000. Share it

Mobile Performance Venue by Various Architects The Mobile Performance Venue(MPV) is completely mobile, unlike the traditional performance venue, thank its inflatable modules and collapsible design. It is a 90 x 60 metres dynamic oval structure capable of holding 3500 people in a central performance space of 2000 sq m. The venue can also range from 10m to 17m tall. MPV consists of the central performance chamber separate from an outer circle which hosts backstage and green rooms, office space, cloakrooms and toilet facilities. The outer MPV constructed from hexagonal inflatable module which is 100% recyclable. Optional mesh or solid pvc covers. The entire project can be transported in 30 standard 40 ft containers (or 20 without the optional roof). The structure will require 2 weeks for assembly and one week for disassembly. Defenestration in San Francisco The concept of "Defenestration", a word literally meaning "to throw out of a window,". Located at the corner of Sixth and Howard Streets in San Francisco in an abandoned four-story tenement building. Created by local artist brian goggin. Tables, chairs, lampsgrandfather clock, a refrigerator, and couches... flood out of windows like escapees, out onto available ledges, up and down the walls, onto the fire escapes and off the roof.
