The 999Bottle is reusable stainless steel water bottle, has three dials around the base numbered from 0 to 9. Each time you refill, just click the dials ahead one number, to keep a tally of just how much you're saving the planet. The bottle comes with an iPhone app that tells you what the numbers mean.
"You've saved 117 bottles! That's equivalent to the amount of oil KITT needs to tubro boost 50 yards with the Hoff and a damsel in distress on board.
You've saved 1,063 bottles! That's equivalent to the height of the Eiffel Tower. Oui, oui!
"
The 999Bottle project is looking for a whopping $100,000 of seed money on Kickstarter.

The Rocking-2-Gether Chair designed by Paul Kweton.
"The rocking-2-gether chair (patent pending) is a hybrid between a rocking chair and dog/cat house. This project initially started in 2011, generating digital 3D models. Several 1:8 scale 3D printed models followed, refining the balance and rocking behaviour of the chair. The prototype 2.1 chair is made out of CNC milled birch plywood. The density and amount of the CNC milled "ribs" can be controlled with differently sized wooden spacers (see photographs), ergo controlling the visual connection between the person and his/her pet. The design process and final full scale prototype of the rocking-2-gether chair showcases the successful combination of digital modeling and digital fabrication"

Students launch a rubber chicken into space

Gear  |  Projects
This rubber chicken named Camilla. Camilla was tied to a helium balloon and floated 120,000 feet above earth to study solar storms as part of an experiment by a group of high school students and fifth graders. It used a helium balloon to launch Camilla and a lunchbox filled with cameras, a cryogenic thermometer, GPS trackers, seven insects, and 24 sunflower seeds 119,000 feet into the air.  The chicken was outfitted with radiation badges to measure the storm. The high school students involved in the project are part of a group called Earth to Sky from Bishop, California. Camilla was on loan to the group courtesy of NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory where she serves as mascot in residence encouraging young women to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers.

Amplifiear: Better sound for iPad

Array
Gear  |  Projects
The lightweight and recyclable plastic ear was conceived by Evan Clabots. He created it because the back-facing speaker of the iPad has less than optimal sound. It will enhance your iPad’s integrated speaker. It works by redirecting and reflecting the sound of the iPad through a Mickey Mouse ear-shaped cup. Amplifiear was launched as a Kickstarter project, and you’ll need to pledge at least $15(USD) to get yours.

Flashdance Chair Socks

Protect your floor with Chair Socks, by Leanne, Adventuregurl on Ravelry.
Leanne wrote, ”The real inspiration behind the Flashdance Chair socks was the cheap, stick-on felt floor protector circles I kept buying from the Dollar Store, that always peeled off after a month or so. The answer to all my problems is usually knitting, and this case was no different. I set out to whip up some ‘socks’ for my chairs, only they didn’t end up being short, like the crocheted floor protectors your Grandma had. They were more like knee-highs or legwarmers! As a true child of the 80’s, when I think Legwarmers, I think “Flashdance”. No one rocked the legwarmers like Jennifer Beals…‘She’s a maniac, maniac on the floor’.”

Hexagonal Pewter Stool Molded From Beach Sand

Gear  |  Projects
By Max Lamb
"Inspired by a childhood spent on the beaches of Cornwall building castles, boats and tunnels in the sand, I decided to return to my favourite beach at Caerhays on the south coast of Cornwall to produce a stool using a primitive form of sand-casting. Molten pewter was poured into a sand mould sculpted directly into the beach by hand, and once cooled the sand was dug away to reveal a pewter stool."
