Legendary special effects artist Rick Baker is the undeniable king of Halloween with this steampunk reinterpretation of Frankenstein's Monster. Baker debuted his mechanical monster suit at an event celebrating his M.A.C. Cosmetics makeup line.
"Baker stole the spotlight with an original visualization of a steampunk Frankenstein’s monster. Heavily layered in metal, with valves, pipes and rivets, he looked like a Jules Verne nightmare come to life. His wife, Silvia, was equally a standout as his steampunk bride."

This is what it looks like to take a direct hit from a tank shell in real life. The GIF shows what looks like a T-72 tank firing a tank shell at the camera. The video was uploaded by Lewaa al-Baraa and supposedly taken at Jobar (outside Damascus, Syria).

By photographer Perttu Saksa. From an interview with the photographer:
"There has been a tradition in Indonesia of street performers teaching their pet monkeys tricks and dressing them in traditional masks. This custom has subsequently put down roots in the cities, where stressed-out monkeys, harnessed to help beggars, are dragged in chains from one owner to another. The monkeys walk clumsily, but are made to go through the streets ‘disguised’ in heads cut off Barbies and baby dolls. A couple of years ago, the Indonesian state tightened up the law and made macaque monkey species protected. There were no longer performances in the street, like before. I did a lot of groundwork with the aid of a local journalist before we found a few people known as “monkey masters” in the slums of Jakarta. They trained and rented out monkeys to beggars. I photographed the series over a few weeks in the autumn of 2012. Since the beginning of this year, the legislation has been made even stricter, and owning monkeys is now punishable by a prison sentence."

The Norway-based extreme artist Eskil Ronningsbakken, 30, balances on the edge of a plunging cliff face at 1,400 metres – on a unicycle. I guess most of you are nervous, and may be worried about his safety only if he treads on the footstep a little more strongly and breaks the balance....

The UK-based company Pro-Teq Surfacing has developed and patented a world first for spraying a liquid based product in combination with either soft or hard media. Starpath is currently being trialled in Christ's Pieces, a well-known park in the east side of the centre of Cambridge by Cambridge City Council.

This product is extremely cost effective to both install and maintain while its seamless surface may be applied to any existing surface, be it concrete, tarmac, timber or any hard stand substrate (solid base). The aggregate material absorbs and stores energy from ambient light (UV rays) during the day, then releases this energy at night allowing the particles to glow. Starpath could be an alternative to street lighting.
