Amazing 3D immersion technology

Gear  |  Gadget
The Amazing 3D immersion technology by IDEO Labs. The amazing 3D room experience!
"The cave(iCube) is comprised of three white walls and a floor, all about 10กไ x 10กไ in size. Onto each surface is projected a high-resolution, stereoscopic image. A viewer stands in the room wearing polarized 3D glasses - like you might use in a 3D movie - with small markers that stick out a bit from the frames.
The markers are illuminated by IR LED floodlights located on the perimeter of the room, and IR-sensitive cameras use those positions to determine the precise location of each eye within the room. From those positions, stereo images for each projector are calculated and rendered on the fly, and the result is absolutely amazing."

Steam Powered iPod Charger

Array
Gear  |  Gadget
Thomas has DIY a steam powered iPod generator, a weird idea.
"Hi, thought you might get a kick out of my latest project. I coupled a Lego Technic Motor to a Jensen #75 steam engine to make a crude generator. From there I built a 5V regulator circuit and soldered in a female USB connection to power any USB device. Since I wanted to use it to charge my iPod, I put in a diode and a .5 amp fuse to provide some circuit protection. Attached are some pictures of it and here are some links to videos of it in action. Unfortunately you can't see the charge light on the ipod, But as you can hear, the iPod really loads the engine. I was somewhat surprise it could hack it. ", Thomas writes.

The Chariot - Wearable Transportation Device

Array
Gear  |  Gadget
This week Exmovere Holdings has unveiled a wearable transportation device, called the Chariot. Wow, what it looks like? The robot? The Chariot is a self-balancing, hands free concept vehicle which is a wearable, sensor-activated pod designed for use by amputees and others who have difficulty standing.
Unlike other self-balancing vehicles(segway), the Exmovere Chariot is controlled by subtle movements of the lower torso and hips. Sensors inside the cocoon-like shell of the vehicle predict the intended motion of the wearer. The Chariot requires no manual dexterity, minimal physical effort and allows wearers to closely approach and reach objects. The upright form of the Chariot allows its wearer to make direct eye contact with others. The Chariot is battery powered and can travel up to 12 miles per hour.
Exmovere will also develop a feature of the Chariot that can switch the wearer from upright to seated position. Exmovere seeks to partner with an automotive manufacturer to eventually launch a performance-oriented Chariot.

BakerTweet

Gear  |  Gadget
BakerTweet is a way for busy bakers to tell the world(send out messages via Twitter) that something hot and fresh has just come out of the oven. All of the baker's followers get a Twitter alert to tell them that it's bun-time. Or bread time. Or whatever. By Poke London. The BakerTweet installed an Arduino board and a Linksys Wi-Fi adapter into a single, bakery-proof box. The dial is used to scroll through a list of baked goods, the button will send out a pre-configured tweet.
"Everyone knows the best time to get your baked goods is when they're fresh out the oven. So we figured that this could be a killer use of Twitter. Letting followers know that fresh goodies are ready right now. But bakeries don't want laptops or phones lying around in the kitchen. Flour, eggs and technology don't mix so well.
So we built BakerTweet.
It's a bespoke piece of hardware (with Arduino-based guts) that allows our friends at Albion across the road to select what's just been baked and ping the relevant Twitter message to local customers. Meaning that you can time your trips to Albion to pick up the freshest freshness. "
