Touch Sight Camera

Array
Gear  |  Design
Touch Sight is a digital camera for visually impaired people. This camera records sounds and displays imagery via 3D embossing allowing the person to relive the moment by two other senses, hearing and touch. It includes a unique feature which records sound for three seconds after pressing the shutter button. Touch Sight does not have an LCD but instead has a lightweight, flexible Braille display sheet which displays a 3D image by embossing the surface, allowing the user to touch the image. The sound file and picture document combine to become a touchable photo that is saved in the device and can be uploaded to share with others--and downloaded to other Touch Sight cameras. One of the 2008 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) winners.

Shift - For Those Not good at Riding the Bike

Array
Gear  |  Design
For those who can not ride the bicycle. The Shift Bicycle helps children learn how to balance on their own. This shifting rear wheels help balance the bike at slow speeds and removing the fear of possible injury. As the child builds up forward momentum, the wheels shift inward due to decreased weight on the rear wheels, thus causing the balance to gradually shift from the bicycle to the child. The bike also features a swinging gear that allows rear wheels to go in and out. It likes a trike. Designed by Matt Grossman, this design awarded at the 9th International Bicycle Design Competition in Taipei.
