Victor Vetterlein has just sent his new iPod and MP3 sstereo speaker dock design - YO.
"YO is a rechargeable and wireless stereo speaker docking station for digital audio players. The system is portable, waterproof, and suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Inside the dock base are lithium-ion (rechargeable) batteries that are capable of powering the stereo system for hours when the unit is disconnected from a power source. The design intention is that a renewable energy source such as solar power, wind power, or hydroelectricity charges the battery packs when the stereo is not in use.
The speakers also contain lithium-ion batteries in their base, and recharge when placed in the stereo base portals. The batteries also provide high-density ballast enabling the speakers to stand upright when removed from the charging ports.
The speaker enclosure is designed to amplify sound. The speakers are mounted in the rear of the speaker housing. Similar to a megaphone, the front portion of the speaker enclosure is extruded to increase and direct sound.
Two removable rods are mounted between the stereo speakers to stabilize the stereo assembly and provide a lifting handle when the unit is transported.

This photo caughts my eyes. It is a cabinet that Lucas Murgida created for the 2008 Conflux. Ha ha, a weird idea! And this beautiful cabinet looks like a coffin?
"A cabinet will be constructed and left on a sidewalk. I will be hidden inside and not reveal myself until someone assumes possession and brings the cabinet to their home.
Often the city seems to be ours alone to experience and we assume that it is in turn ours for the taking. This sensibility is made evident in the U.S. by the often-quoted phrase, "Possession is 9/10 of the law." This means that the person who is not in possession of an item must prove that it is rightfully theirs... A person is not sure how to look at the object at first, but will usually fall back on the golden rule of U.S. culture (finders keepers, losers weepers) and claim it to be theirs. I am hoping to subvert the "finder's" personal space by claiming it to be my own public space

The Nebo Portable Shop System by Mario Weiss. Next time you see this all-in-one vendor in the Ballpark, don't feel strange.
"Nebo is a portable shop system, consisting of a beverage backpack and a vendor's tray. It is an eye catching product, ideal for selling beverages and ice-cream at festivals, sports events or beach or in general in all terrain that can not be managed easily with a trolley. The core piece of the beverage backpack is covered with a UVresistant foil. It is held by a bag made of wear resistant textile and a foam textile composite. Several straps enable adjustment of the back piece to achieve a comfortable and firm hold on the user's back."

The results of an extensive exploration with shadows, the One Day Poem Pavilion demonstrates the poetic, transitory, site-sensitive and time-based nature of light and shadow.
"Using a complex array of perforations, the pavilion's surface allows light to pass through creating shifting patterns, which¨Cduring specific times of the year¨Ctransform into the legible text of a poem. The specific arrangements of the perforations reveal different shadow-poems according to the solar calendar: a theme of new-life during the summer solstice, a reflection on the passing of time at the period of the winter solstice. The time-based nature of the poem¨Cand the visitor's time-based encounters with it¨Callow viewers to have different experiences either seeing a stanza of the poem or getting the whole poem. All of these possible experiences are equally valuable and have meanings unique to the individual. This technique has the potential for producing particular effects and meanings within an architectural environment. Without the use of a source of power other than the sun, this project uses light and shadow to push the boundaries of communication and experiential delight."
A very cool idea, using the a complex array of perforations and lighting, which transform into the legible text of a poem! The poem can be seen between 8 AM and 4PM. The poem consists of 5 lines with each line lasting about an hour, included "new life, reflection and the passing of time..."

During the Conflux weekend, Jamie O'Shea with his Vertical Bed in a suitcase, anchored his prostheses above subway vents and stayed there sleeping in an upright position for 40 minute intervals several times in a day. Concealed harnesses ensure that Jamie didn't fall over. He also wore noise canceling headphones and double-mirrored sunglasses, padded with little cusions to keep his eyelid closed. In case of bad weather, an umbrella clips in the infrastructure for shelter.

A collaborative project that takes the work of artists from around the world, in the form of fake road signs, and turns the streets of Lyon, France into an enormous gallery without walls. The round red and white signs look enough like real European traffic signs that you might take them for granted, but weird enough if you notice them to make you stop and think. Panos 2013 is the second edition of this project. You can have a look at the first edition in the Panos 2004 section. [ link ]

Wow, see this design, If too dangerous to get a free ride? Maybe you just expose your thigh. By Robert Nightingale.
For best results position yourself at traffic lights, railway stations or air hangers. Subtly wait for the opportune moment (which is precisely 7 seconds before the initial point of acceleration) and attach the product as firmly as possible to the host vehicle (a brief run up usually does the trick), paying attention to ground clearance for ones feet and enjoy the ride...

The works of ProAesthetics Supports - Back Braces and Neck Braces by Francesca Lanzavecchia. I love these pretty designs!
Back Braces - A young girl's brace where she stores her prized possessions. A colourful brace with sculpted-in pockets to store personal artifacts.
Neck Braces-1(below-right) Opposing the iconic thick and rigid image neck braces have, delicate lace is coated with flexible plastic to support the neck in the style of a Victorian collar. The perforations inherent in the lace pattern naturally ventilate the supported area as well.
Neck Braces-2(below-left) The aid-object grows to accommodate the user¡¯s lifestyle and modern dependencies. This PU foam neck brace offers to cradle our communication prosthesis.
