  • Eco-friendly ATM booth

    Array
    Gear  |  Design
This eco-friendly ATM booth is developed by Brazilian Edra Equipamentos. Different from the conventional ones, the walls and ceiling of the booth are built from a polymer derived from a combination of recycled plastic, such as PET bottles, and renewable sources, such as oilseed plants. A photovoltaic solar panel on the roof powers the booth's LED lighting at night, while during the day natural light floods in through a clear "Solatube" system coated with a film from 3M that blocks more than 80 percent of infrared rays to help keep the interior cool.

    Lampbrella, romantic and creative

    Array
    Gear  |  Design
This is a concept design to encourage people to meet potential partners in the streets. What a romantic solution! The Lampbrella design, which is created by Mikhail Belyaev, incorporates a rain and motion sensor into the shaft of the streetlamp and opens up the umbrella canopy when it rains. It's a clever integration of a street lamp and umbrella, but my only worry is that it may end up injuring someone while opening or closing.

The folding boat by student Thibault Penven from Ecole Cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL).
Called Ar Vag, the vessel comprises rigid boards sewn into a waterproof skin so it can be unfolded quickly and stiffened by pushing two folding rods, like tent poles, into pockets in the rim. A wooden plank inserted through apertures in the walls holds the whole thing under tension and forms a seat. Check out the video.

Basically, it is a dish drying rack that lets you grow your fresh herbs and any small plant you want. Called the Fluidity.
"The water that trickles from the washed dishes irrigates the plants. The base, thanks to its fluid form, directs the wastewater into the sections where are plant containers placed. Each container is perforated at the bottom for water passage. The containers are filled with clay pellets and coconut fiber, to control the water environment of the plant on the one hand and to keep clean the dish drainer base on the other hand."
