The winning idea of the fun theory award, submitted by Kevin Richardson, USA. Can we get more people to obey the speed limit by making it fun to do? Kevin Richardson’s was so good that already been tested, together with The Swedish National Society for Road Safety in in Stockholm.
"Instead of only photographing drivers who are caught speeding, this camera also photographs those driving within the speed limit and automatically enters them in a lottery that’s funded by the money generated by the speeding tickets."

Seriously?  It actually sounds like a completely awful idea.

Acceptance of traffic camera's is a terrible thing to push for.  Also, do you know how many scumbags are just going to keep driving by this thing and "entering" the lottery?  Traffic will be INSANE.  People are scumbags and you give them something like this and you will quickly find out.

Speed isn't the problem in most cases, but idiocy definitely is.

If there is a big screen showing how fast you are going of course you're gonna slow down. Having that said the statistics can't be that accurate.

If I saw this on the road I wouldn't understand what the lottery meant and such.
