Iran unveils Bavar 2 stealth flying boat with machine
Gear  |  Military

Iran has unveiled three squadrons of new flying boats, the Bavar 2, is armed with a machine gun, possible missile attachments and carries surveillance cameras.
"As for its criticisms, the Bavar 2 has been accused of being very "kit," as in it looks like a watercraft you could have ordered online and assembled yourself. Just do a Google image search for "hoverwing" and you'll see many craft like it. There's also the big question of just how stealthy it is. Iranian officials claims that its hull makes it undetectable by radar, though videos of the thing flying show that it's pretty damn loud. The blue paint job probably works well enough -- the Bavar 2 doesn't fly high enough for its red underbelly to ever really factor in -- it really mostly skims above the water."

One solider in the U.S. Marine Corps with his trusty M16 could take out that whole fleet.  Hilarious...

I have heard rumours that they are investing quite heavily in potato cannons too...

Whether or not they hull is stealthy, I'm guessing probably not very, the exposed rotor blades will light up a radar screen like a Christmas tree.

The Bavar-2 have also been spotted on imagery recently at: http://osgeoint.blogspot.com/2011/09/first-look-bavar-2-imagery-signatures.html

They are actually very cool, the russians developed this technology and even though the US has tried to use "Wing In Ground Effect" it has never been successful at it. These boats could be very useful is certain situations, especially for the region where it has been developed.
