The infographic movie "It's Time for Real / Eat Local, Eat Real" highlights the increasing tendency of food importation, and how this phenomenon influences the economy, the environment and our neighborhoods. The message is mainly meant for Canadians, but certainly applies universally. It is part of the campaign Eat Real, Eat Local, by Crush with the Sons and Daughters director Steve Gordon for the Unilever brand Hellman's.(watch the video!)
The 600% increase in food import to only 15% increase in population size is statistically irrelevant. By comparing the two it is inferred that consumption was way above necessary for population size which cannot be deduced from that comparison. A 600% increase in imports could easily have coincided with a drop in food consumption. Yet another misuse of statistics in propaganda.
