| Garmin unveiled the GPSMAP 495 GPS ststem($1,600; early April) is designed to target at pilots, providing pilots with SafeTaxi airport diagrams, Smart Airspace, AOPA Airport directory data. It is a slightly GPSMAP 496, since it lacks the pre-loaded City Navigator NT database and real-time XM weather data. So if you wanted to use it in a car or boat, you have to manually load the city map or marine chart data. It features high-resolution terrain maps - terrain and obstacle alerting. And Garmin's SafeTaxi features includes over 850 US airport diagrams. |
