Bus Roots is a green roof system designed for buses by Marco Castro Cosio. "It’s a green roof for a bus."
The project posits: "If we grew a garden on the roof of every one of the 4,500 buses in the MTA bus fleet, we would have 35 acres of new rolling green space in the city."

Maybe they can grow soy plants on the tops, then harvest the beans, process the oil, and run the buses on the resulting biodiesel.  :P

Biodiesel its almost as bad as diesel for Co2 emissions. And extra weight means extra CO2 to move those plants around the city...
Go green, but think first!

design used to be about cleverly considered ideas and solving problems. This lacks any thought process or resolves anything other than making a bus 'look cool'. It has zero to do with environment.
A better approach would be to try and make the bus lighter or perhaps run on a cleaner energy. Oh but that won't look cool on a blog post will it?!
